What is Repentence?

5-Repentence.png

What is Repentance? Repentance is turning away from one direction and heading in a new direction. The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions. In Acts 26:20, Paul says, “ I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their sins and turn to God — and prove they have changed by the good things they do.”

Repentance is more than just leaving something behind, it is a transforming movement away from the bad things we do, turning toward and with the goodness of God.

I want you to think about your life. Do you recognize that you have done things against the will of God? I am asking you to list those things you want to change, turn and walk away from. Not in a new direction of your sin and flesh but in a new direction following and being obedient to God, turning your face toward God. He is waiting and ready for you. He wants a relationship with you. He loves you.

Questions to Ponder:
Are there actions you have taken that you regret?
Are there habits or behaviors you wish you could stop doing?

Acts 3:19  Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Acts 2:38  And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
