Receiving Jesus, Baptism
and the Holy Spirit
Receiving Jesus
If you are ready to take this life-transforming step, repeat the statement below. God has promised us that when "you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved" - Romans 10:9-10.
“I believe that God exists and is a loving and just God. I believe God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to this earth over 2,000 years ago. He came to reconcile the world and every person back to God. He became the perfect sacrifice completing God’s just requirements for my sins. I believe in and from my heart, that Jesus died for my sins, was resurrected, overcame death, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. I declare that He is Lord over my life, and declare my faith to Him and in Him.”
John 5:24 I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.
Water Baptism
Water baptism is done with the body of Christ. (If you don’t have a church yet, seek out a church that teaches the bible, disciples its church family, and helps them to grow and discover the work that God has for each one of them. Attend the church regularly and become involved in being part of its active members. If you need help picking a church, reach out to us on our Contact Us page, and we will connect you with others who can assist you.)
Water baptism is a symbol of your total trust in, reliance on, and agreement to live in obedience to Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord. This act is not what saves you. Faith is what saves you. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” When we go under the water, it is symbolizing the death of our “sinful selves” with Jesus, and when we come back up, it symbolizes the new spirit, clean and pure, that has been placed into our hearts, and our new seating with Christ in the Heavenly places.
One of the last things Jesus said to His disciples before He left the earth to sit at the right hand of God was recorded in Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”
Water baptism is for you if you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, understanding that He died for your sins, that there was nothing you could have done to get right with God on your own, and realizing that you needed a savior. With His death and resurrection, we have the assurance that He has a place for us, that we are accepted and beloved as God’s children, His heirs and fellow heirs with Jesus.
Romans 6:3-4 Do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore, buried with Him by baptism into death in order that, just as Jesus was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit is now living within you. He is your comforter, your guide, your healer, your counselor your wisdom, and so much more giving you all that you need to live to a Godly life, pleasing to the Lord.
But there is more. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." He has a kingdom work for you to do, using the gifts and talents He placed in you at birth. Jesus wants you to move in power, just as He did. He says in John 14:12, "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father." Ask your pastors or Elders to lay hands on you to receive Holy Spirit's power for the ministry that God has planned for you.
You may repeat a statement like this, "Today, I ask in your name, Jesus, that you fill me with your Holy Spirit, baptize me in your fire, and to clothe me in your power. According to the promise in your Word, your answer is, “Yes,” and that therefore by faith I have received your Holy Spirit into my life today."
Luke 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
