We are Three Parts

A soccer ball is made by three parts, outer shell, the bladder that holds the air, and the air. Like a soccer ball, we were designed and created with three primary parts; body (physical), soul (mind, will and emotions) and spirit.
Since the fall of Adam, every person is born separated from God and therefore without life. Without God, we are left to seeking love, adequacy, acceptance, security, value/worth and adequacy from others. Since others are flawed by sin as we are, we form beliefs based on their interactions with and words said to us, many of which are lies.
We may learn that we are unloveable or not valued, for example, and we develop coping mechanisms, called "flesh" to deal with these beliefs we hold. When we interact with others, our flesh rises up to protect us as it has done since we were very little.
How can a coach show his or her players that they are loved, accepted, secure, valued and adequate when they living sinful lives out of their flesh?
Romans 7: 15-20
For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
1 Thessalonians 5:23–24
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for bringing to my attention how you designed me for greater things which I have yet to experience. Lord I admit and repent from a life of flesh and sin. For operating outside your will for my life. Lord I wish to repent and change my life in accordance to how you have designed me. Lord, I have done many things outside of your will; things that have hurt me and has damaged others in my life. Lord, I repent from all of the controls, manipulations, lies that have fostered my life.
I admit I have been trying to get my needs met through people, achievements and possessions.
I now give up on my self-sufficiency and do hereby commit my life unconditionally into your hands. I give up all my rights and expectations, and I give you permission to make me into the kind of person You want me to be.
I believe Your Word that I have been crucified with Christ and have been buried and raised with Him into newness of Life. I claim resurrection life as my life. I have been raised in heavenly places, and I believe that I now am seated at the right hand of the Father.
I choose, as an act of my will, to claim Christ is my life, my power, and mu identity. I thank You that my identification with Christ makes me totally acceptable, and that all of my needs are met through Christ Jesus.
I yield myself totally to the indwelling Christ for obedience. Do with me whatever You choose. Glorify and manifest Your Son in my life.
